    Floating Midway
    Plastic bubbles in a found bird's nest echo the plastic found in nests and bird stomachs on Midway Island, in the remotest part of the Pacific. Baby birds die because the parents pick plastic to feed them out of the Great Pacific Gyre, where the world's plastic collects and breaks down into smaller and smaller bite-sized pieces.

    This bee, newly born, suffers from K-wing syndrome, a birth deformity that will make it impossible for her to fly. Her sisters had already pushed her from the hive; without them, she cannot survive for any longer than a day.
