The Garlic Cathedral
The Garlic Cathedral was an opportunity to rise to a challenge while I was at the Andes Sprouts Society Residency at a farm in the Catskills: where to put the recently harvested garlic so that we could have an art show in the barn? Limiting myself to the materials available on the farm, I found myself crafting installations in a 100-year old dairy barn at the Straight Out of the Ground Farm in Roxbury New York. The Garlic Cathedral is the largest installation I have done to date, and watching it change in the filtered light throughout the day created a sacred, contemplative space.
